It all started with a Jijenge member from neighbouring village whom l talked to about the hustles l was doing in order to accumulate cash to do poultry farming which has always been my dream business, he just smiled and told me “fom ni jijenge” and table banking has no hustles. He told me all I needed was to mobilise 7-20 friends and contact Jijenge for training. I slept over the idea and decided just to contact jijenge because I was told that their training was free of charge.

After training,l learnt my dream would turn true and better when Jijenge officer’s asked us;why do so much just to sell chicken eggs @ ksh.10 while ducks requires little or no effort to produce quality & marketable eggs that sell at ksh.30? I realized I never needed to buy a duck but several duck eggs to be hutched by kienyeji hen to get it all started. And duck lays 30 eggs before getting broody where it can later hutch up to 30 ducklings.

With 100 ducks I get at least 3 crates of eggs which translates to at least ksh.2700 a day. A duck sell @ at least ksh.1000 and its meat production is greater or equal to that of 3 chicken.

I have been able to secure a long term loan from my table-banking group to commence dairy goat farming. I am very grateful to Jijenge. Hitherto, I can attest to the fact that Jijenge Economic Vine through table banking has taught us how to search from resources within us, saving us from the humiliation that we have always suffered from when searching from others. I advise people to take table banking seriously wajijenge na Jijenge Economic Vine- Cleophas M`iti Mwiti Tharaka Nithi County
